My Birthday?
Sorry, my lips & bleeding thumbs are sealed, though you may find a clue if you follow a flying rodent (IE only it seems). 'nuff said.
Were you at A&S during the time that it was standard practice to hold impromtu "surprise" birthday parties in the lunch room during the afternoon?
Even then I was a bit coy about my age & birthday. If any-one asked, I would say that "today" is my birthday; it became a standing (& not very funny) joke.
Do you also remember Andy's wife, Solenge (spelling?) trying to get involved around the office at one point?
Well, one day she must have overheard one of my "it's today" jokes. That afternoon, the fateful call came over the PA, "Ed (o-san) wanted in the lunch room". I walked completely unsuspecting into the surprise party (of course, it wasn't my birthday at all). Solenge had been out at lunch-time to buy snacks & soft drinks, & even a big pink cake with "Happy Birthday Ed" iced on the top!
I don't think I was employee of the month!
