| Notes on Lima Ed's Three Peaks |
Scafell Pike : 12 June 2010, Cumbria, 3162 feet (964m). Highest mountain in England. Lima Ed followed the "usual" route from Wasdale Head. Nice weather, and more people (so one regular commented) than ever before seen on a Lakeside mountain! World Cup fever gripped the nation, and the Flag of St George adorned the trig point - I suspect it was a short lived sentiment.

Snowdon: 03 July 2010, 3560 feet (1085m). Highest mountain in Wales. Lima Ed started early from camp at the East end of Llyn Gwynant, followed an otter fishing for breakfast, and joined the Watkin Path as far as Gladstone Rock. From here, a meandering detour to climb up to the South Ridge and eventually join the Rhd Ddu trail to Snowdon Summit. Lima Ed whetted his first experience of the new cafeteria, Hafod Eeyri, with a lovely hot brew!
Descent via the Pyg Track 'till the Miners Track dropped down to Llyn Llydaw, then Pen-y-Pass and back to camp past the hydro power station. |
| Ben Nevis: 07 Oct 2010, 4406 feet (1344m). Highest mountain in Scotland, and the UK. Caledonian Sleeper to Fort William. Along the Glen Nevis road, then accross the suspension bridge behind the visitor centre, and onto the mountain. Scenes in order of ascent/descent in-between driving rain. I was 21 the last time I steadied my weary self on that trig point - and it's really a got a lot higher since then! Celebrated in town 'till about a quarter to two, which can't be bad for a Thursday night in Fort William! |
| Crib Goch: Alternative route up Snowdon. This has nothing to do with me except for winning my admiration for both the subject, and the cameraman! Credit to andrewdavid68 who's youTube post this is. |
